The master warrior had been sentenced to exile and instead of just throwing him away to some different land, the king just decided to let him be the sole guard of the mossy forest fort and he’ll be there until the king says so he can return. It’s a good thing the king didn’t send him to be salvaged or worst, but he has little faith he’ll be able to return to the kingdom for the crime he is being accused of, and he didn’t even do it.
