After receiving the offer, you immediately head off to do research. Your research leads you to the legend of the dragons. They once used the cave as their safe place. The people from the past saw the dragons as threats to their lives when they failed to understand them.
So they hunted the dragons. You find this part of the story hard to believe since dragons are huge creatures. But humans are scarier and they managed to rid the earth of dragons.
