This forest here is riddled with traps, but not for humans though, they are for animals especially the wild game there. As a person who lives in the place, Sheldon can see the over-hunting that is happening in the place, that’s why he is doing something which was under the noses of the hunters, and that’s releasing some of the traps’ catches!

That day, Sheldon was around trying to find these hidden cages, and then when he found one he saw there was a squirrel in there! Nobody wants to capture squirrels really, that’s why he decided to free this animal himself for he knows he’ll release it safely.
