Santa always takes full responsibility and go out to the woods to collect the lost gifts. They’ll be delivered next year of course. Santa’s a very good man and dutiful. All the elves respect them. No matter how hard we try to help him in finding the lost presents, he always refuses us and goes on his venture alone. I guess he needs this time alone. He thinks about a lot of things, I’m sure.
