As you were one of the organizers, you went there early to make sure everything will be in order. But it seems like your friend whose birthday is got annoyed by something and canceled the party. Your other friends went to talk with him, but you remained in the party hall hoping that he will change his mind. But he did not, so now the party is canceled.
