Well Jeffrey must not really fail this and he is quite afraid of his master, for his master is a dark witch and because he is bound to her, if he escapes then he’ll just wither away. That’s his bargain to the witch long ago to be his lifelong servant, as long as she leaves the village alone where he resided before.
