Well that’s because he is egoistical and thinks that he is smarter than the rest of the people there. He demanded respect and recognition most of the time but what can everybody do, he is helping making their lives easy, at least he is not hurting everyone physically, yet. That day, that said boy got himself in some real trouble and at that moment he felt hopeless for his smarts wasn’t able to help him.
As one of the residents in the village who dislikes him, Josh decided to just help him for he is trapped in one of the houses there not because he needs him, but he felt pity of the kid and maybe from then he’ll learn that they are all equal and he also needs his fellow villagers’ help, hopefully.
