Barbara was just a visitor here in this village in the forest, but now she is an escapee there for she got trapped in this area which was enclosed and away from the houses! That’s because the only way out of there was now locked.

Barbara didn’t think somebody did this to her, it’s likely this was an accident for she got adventurous that day and that resulted in her getting trapped.
