Tulum was once a strong Pre-Columbian Maya city. It was fortified with strong walls and later functioned as an important strategic point in defending the Caribbean Sea. This is one of the cities that the Mayas built. It’s golden era dates back to the 13th and 15th century. It lasted for additional 70 years after the Spanish began the occupation of Mexico. The diseases brought by the conquistadors, caused the fall of the city. Today, it’s a famous tourist attraction. You also decided to visit it and spent a little too much inside.
